  Q.   How do I log in to my Moodle course?

  A.

Use your Computing id and CWEM password to log in to Moodle:

  -   The username of Moodle is the same as your Computing id (e.g. s031234 or b987654)
  -   Your password is the same as your CWEM password. Whenever you change your CWEM password, the change will reflect on your Moodle password also.
  Q.   I do not have a Computing ID/CWEM password. How can I get it?

  A.

Please refer to the following web page for instructions on getting the Computer Account Application Reply Slip.
http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/onlineapp/accounts/reply.html

  Q.   I couldn't find the course after login, why? How can I add my course(s)?

  A.

Firstly, check whether your registered course is available in Moodle. Some teachers may not use Moodle for teaching. Please check with your course teacher or TA to confirm.

If your course teacher uses Moodle for teaching, the course will appear in your "Course categories" list. Student accounts of Moodle courses will automatically be updated according to course registration information at Registration & Examinations Section and Graduate School.

If you add a course during the add/drop period, please wait until the add/drop result is announced. Moodle will update your record according to the add/drop results announcement schedule. If you have problems in accessing the course, please send your enquires to the ITSC Helpdesk.

  A.

It appears that you have new messages waiting for you to read.  By default, Moodle automatically shows a "Message window" when he/she get new messages.   However, most browsers/toolbars are set to block popup windows and thus leads to the error.

One way to work around the problem is to configure the "Pop-up Blocker" of your Internet browser to allow popup windows from moodle.cuhk.edu.hk.

General
  Q.   Who do I contact for help with Moodle?

  A.

For any other questions, please send your requests/ problems to https://helpdesk.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/group/moodle-help

  Q.   I don't know my CUHK email address. How do I find it out?

  A.

Look it up here https://directory.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/directory/. (As in your Moodle User Profile)

  Q.   I would like my Moodle emails to be sent to another address. What do I do?

  A.

If you want to redirect emails to another email account, login https://directory.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/directory/login.jsp  and change *Maildrop* to your preferred email address so that all emails to xxx@cuhk.edu.hk will be redirected to your preferred email address.

  Q.   Why am I not getting emails my teacher/TA sends through Moodle?

  A.

First, make sure the emails are going to the same address you are checking. Ask your teachers/TAs to check the email address specified for you in Moodle.

If the emails are going to the correct address but you are still not receiving them, your email service provider may be using a junk mail filter that is filtering Moodle emails out of your inbox. You should put the keyword "Moodle" on your "white list" (a list of addresses that are exempt to the filters). Contact your email service provider for help with this.

  Q.   When I click on the link to a Word document, it opens directly in the browser. How can I open it in MS Word so that I can edit, save, and/or print it?

  A.

PC Users: Right click on the link. Choose "Save Target As". Give the file a name and save it on the desktop. Then go to the desktop of you computer and double-click on the file to open it in Word.
